WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (1/6/2015) A Wilmington firetruck loaded with water and parked at an accident scene suddenly started sliding on ice and struck a car and a building this morning, according to reports from the scene and city officials. The building was later condemned by city inspectors.

No one was in the truck at the time as firefighters were evaluating people involved in the earlier multi-vehicle accident at Oak and Franklin streets about 9 a.m. One person was injured in that crash.

Fire Chief Anthony Goode tweeted: “Engine 6 slides over 100 feet downhill, hits car and home. No injuries reported.”

A second-floor apartment in the home at 1217 Oak St. was later declared unsafe by the Department of License & Inspection. Officials were working with the landlord to find housing for the tenant.

Wilmington police were on the scene as well as Delmarva Power crews.
