3 arrested on drug charges in Milford

MILFORD, DELAWARE (12/25/2014)  Three people were arrested on drug charges after a three-month investigation by multiple agencies and searches at several homes and vehicles in the city, Milford police said Wednesday.

The arrests came on Friday and Monday, Detective Dwight Young said, and officers seized cocaine, Ecstasy and marijuana, a vehicle and cash.

Ashley Ortiz, 23, of Milford and Tyrell Waters, 23, of Lincoln, were each charged with possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of marijuana, conspiracy, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, endangering a child and possession of drug paraphernalia. Waters also was charged with intent to deliver Ecstasy.

Brandon Barnes, 27, of Milford, was charged with possession with intent to deliver Ecstasy, conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Waters was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $20,000 secured bond.

Ortiz was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in lieu of $10,000 secured bond.

Barnes was released on $12,000 unsecured bond, Young said.

Milford police were assisted by the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, state police and officers from Georgetown, Harrington, Ocean View and Blades.
