Armed robbery try fails at Dover store

DOVER, DELAWARE (12/22/2014) A man with a knife tried to rob a Dover grocery store over the weekend but fled empty-handed, city police said today.

The robbery try happened about 5:10 p.m. Saturday at Tienda Latina, 720 Townsend Blvd.

Police said the man, armed with a 6-inch kitchen knife, jumped the counter and tried to force the clerk to open the cash registers.

After  several failed attempts, the man fled toward Townsend Boulevard.

He was described as 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-8 and wearing all black clothing.
