Woman screams for help, officers arrest teen

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/16/2014) Two Wilmington police officers captured a 16-year-old city boy moments after he robbed a woman, police said today.

Officers John Gibson and Christopher Petrucci were on patrol in the 1800 block of N. Washington St. about 3:20 p.m. Friday when they saw an altercation between the teen and a woman.

As they approached in a marked police car, the woman began screaming for help and the boy began walking away.

The woman told officers she had been robbed of her cellphone. The officers stopped the boy and recovered the phone, police said.

The teen, from Wilmington, was taken into custody without incident and charged with attempted robbery. He was being held in the New Castle County Detention Center in lieu of $20,000 secured bail.
