CHRISTIANA, DELAWARE (12/16/2014) Two crashes with injuries shut down northbound I-95 between Routes 273 and 1 late this morning, and another crash with injuries caused major delays on southbound I-495 south of Wilmington.

One accident, about 10:20 a.m., happened north of the Route 273 exit and involved a vehicle that went off the highway and rolled over. A 17-year-old girl who was driving the sedan was taken by paramedics to Christiana Hospital with possible head and back injuries. She was in serious condition, said Cpl. Abigail Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

The second accident, about a quarter mile north, involved a car that went into the median barrier. Haas said the 30-year-old man who was driving had minor injuries and was in stable condition when taken by paramedics to Christiana Hospital.

All lanes were shut but at 10:50 a.m. the two left lanes were reopened, and all remaining lanes have since been reopened, state police said.

DelDOT said the I-495 crash, reported at 10:53 a.m., was at the U.S. 13 exit. All lanes are now open.

Construction on northbound I-95 also is causing delays, with two lanes closed between the Brandywine River bridge and the Concord Pike/U.S. 202 exit.

State police are investigating the crashes.
