Pot buy brings robbery try, gunshots in Dover

DOVER, DELAWARE (12/15/2014) An attempt to purchase marijuana led to a robbery try by the two sellers, a struggle over a gun and shots being fired, Dover police said today.

The incident happened about 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Hamlet Shopping Center parking lot.

A 43-year-old man approached two young men and inquired about purchasing marijuana. When they failed to make a deal, the older man walked away toward Heritage Drive.

One of the young men with a handgun caught up with the man and attempted to rob him. They struggled over the gun but the man broke free and fled. The young man fired two shots toward him. Police said one went through his coat and shirt but missed his body.

The young men were described as in their late teens or early 20s. The one with the gun was 6-feet, average build with an orange or red hooded sweatshirt under a dark jacket and with bright blue shoes.
