Police identify 23-year-old man shot to death in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/6/2014) One man died and two others were in critical but stable condition after being shot Friday night near Sixth and Jefferson streets, authorities say.

The shootings happened about 9:10 p.m.

A 23-year-old man identified this morning by police as Gene Malone of Wilmington suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and died en route to Christiana Hospital, said police and Cpl. Abigail Haas, spokeswoman for New Castle County paramedics. Police said he was found in the 600 block of Windsor St.

An 18-year-old man was wounded in his legs and back, treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana.

A 24-year-old man was wounded in his legs, treated and taken by ambulance to Christiana.

The two wounded men were found in the 600 block of W. Sixth St., police said.

Police said a large crowd of bystanders became unruly and one person was charged with felony resisting arrest after an officer suffered a minor injury.
