DELAWARE (11/26/2014) In the wake of a coastal storm  that brought an inch of snow to Greenville and Hockessin by 4 p.m. today, Delmarva Power reported more than 2,000 customers lost electric power in New Castle County.

Police reported numerous accidents in the area as roads became slick, including one with an overturned vehicle after noon on State Route 1 just north of U.S. 40. Both directions of traffic on Route 1 were affected.

By 4 p.m. the storm had dumped an inch of rain in all three counties.

The outages reported by Delmarva were mostly in the Middletown area, with others near Hockessin and Odessa. Cause of the outages was not immediately available, and the company predicted service will be restored by 5:30 p.m. for the 250 customers still without service at 4 p.m.

Forecasters from the National Weather Service now say sleet may mix with the snow this afternoon, particularly in the southern parts of New Castle and Cecil counties.

Snow is predicted for the upper half of Delaware and may dump as much as 14 inches in parts of the region, according to forecasts.
