CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (6/8/2015) A group of young teenagers on bicycles robbed a 32-year-old man at the Whitney Apartments, New Castle County police reported this morning.
The robbery happened about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 8000 block of Society Drive.
The victim had just left his building to retrieve groceries from his car when the teens followed him and asked to use his cellphone, Officer First Class Tracey Duffy said.
One of the teens then approached him from behind and took the cellphone from his hand, Duffy said.
He pursued on foot but was struck about the body by one of the teens and broke off the chase.
The teens were described as black and 13-14 years old, Duffy said. They fled on their bikes and were last seen heading toard the tree line in the rear of the apartment complex.
