Police identify Seaford man killed in crash

DSP logoGEORGETOWN, DELAWARE (5/3/2015)  A 42-year-old Seaford man died in a single-vehicle crash southwest of Georgetown, Delaware State Police said.

He was identified this afternoon as Michael J. McIntire.

The crash happened about 1:10 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 9 (County Seat Highway) east of Old Furnace Road.

McIntire was westbound in a 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup truck when it went off the north side of the road, struck several signs and a driveway culvert before ending up in a deep water-filled tax ditch.

The driver, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

U.S. 9 was closed in both directions about 2½ hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
