CANTERBURY, DELAWARE (7/5/2017) A 50-year-old Woodside man died Tuesday when his 1996 Chevrolet Corvette collided with another car east of Canterbury, the Delaware State Police said.

The crash was reported at 5:17 p.m. on Irish Hill Road east of Canterbury Road.

The man killed was identified as John E. Watson.

Police said Watson was westbound on a slight left curve when he lost control and the Corvette started spinning around and crossed the double yellow line into the eastbound lane. An eastbound 2014 Ford Focus struck the passenger side door of the Corvette with its front bumper.

The Corvette went down an embankment on the south side of the road. The Focus spun and came to a stop in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the Focus, Chelsea E. Harris, 22, of Felton, was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital with what police said were serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Irish Hill Road was closed about three hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
