Driver seriously injured when car overturns near Wilmington

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/23/2014) A 52-year-old man was trapped in his car and seriously injured after it overturned just south of the city limits this morning, authorities said.

The crash reported at 6:08 a.m. happened in the 1000 block of S. Market St., near the Fairview Inn.

The four-door sedan ended up on its roof, and a crew from Minquadale Fire Company had to cut the car apart to remove the victim, said Cpl. Abigail Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

He was treated on the scene by paramedics for possible head and leg injuries and scrapes, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

Wilmington Fire Department also responded.

State police are investigating the crash.
