MILLSBORO, DELAWARE (6/30/2016) A 20-year-old man was killed this morning in a crash on John J. Williams Highway (Route 24) east of Millsboro, the Delaware State Police said.

The nearly head-on collision of a 2004 Ford Mustang and a 2013 Isuzu six-wheel box truck happened about 4:40 a.m. near Rock Pile Way.

The driver of the Mustang, identified as Corey A. Burton, of Millsboro, was partially ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Burton was westbound when for unknown reason he crossed the center line in front of the eastbound truck. The truck’s driver swerved right but the vehicles collided. After the impact, the car spun around and came to a stop on the westbound shoulder. The truck came to a stop partially in the grass off the eastbound shoulder.

The driver of the truck, Justin B. Baldwin, 35 of Salisbury, Maryland, was wearing a seat belt and wasn’t injured, police said.

Route 24 was closed  about four hours between Maryland Camp Road and William Street Road as police investigated.

Millsboro Fire Company responded.
