NORTH STAR, DELAWARE (6/17/2016) One teenager has been arrested after a 13-year-old girl was assaulted by a group of teens in the Autumnwood community, and New Castle County police said Thursday they are still investigating the incident.
The victim was taken to Christiana Hospital in Stanton for treatment of a cut above her right eyebrow after the assault about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in the first block of Autumnwood Drive. She was treated and released.
Police responded to the hospital about 12:50 a.m. Wednesday and later arrested the teen, who was charged with misdemeanor assault and released to parents on $500 unsecured bond and ordered to have no contact with the victim, Officer First Class John Paul Piser said.
WPVI-TV reported the victim, Meara Bey, was surrounded by the group while she was skateboarding and then was struck by a cinder block, with the wound requiring seven stitches.
