HOCKESSIN, DELAWARE (10/15/2015) A 21-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing of a Hockessin psychiatrist early Wednesday, New Castle County police announced this afternoon.

Christopher Frick of the Autumnwood neighborhood in North Star was charged with killing 55-year-old Dr. Caroline Ekong in her Sanford Ridge home, where her body was found shortly before 4 a.m. by her daughter.

“Frick was familiar with the victim through a professional interaction. Frick allegedly planned this incident for some time as their interaction was dated,” according to a statement from Col. Elmer M. Setting, chief of county police.

“Frick left his residence and parked his vehicle in a parking lot near the victim’s residence. Frick then entered the residence and confronted the victim. A physical altercation occurred when Frick stabbed the victim numerous times where she succumbed to her injuries. Frick fled on foot back to his vehicle and drove to a residence in the unit block of Springbrook Lane where he called 9-1-1 and reported what he had done,” according to Setting.

Frick also was charged with possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, home invasion, first-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools. He was being held at Young Correctional Institution without bail on the murder charge and $143,0000 cash bail on the balance of the charges.
