TOWNSEND, DELAWARE (5/26/2016) A 44-year-old man died of cardiac arrest following a minor two-vehicle crash east of Townsend that caused a major backup for northbound Route 1, authorities said.
The collision happened about 5 p.m. today at Pine Tree Road and forced the closure of the right lane until about 7 p.m., with Delaware State Police advising motorists to bypass the area on U.S. 13.
New Castle County paramedics treated the man at the scene and he was taken by Townsend ambulance to Christiana Hospital’s facility in Middletown, where he was pronounced dead, said Cpl. David J. McKinney, Jr
State police are still investigating the crash.
