NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (12/27/2015) A motorcycle and pickup truck were racing before the bike collided with a car on U.S. 13 near New Castle, the Delaware State Police said this morning. The crash critically injured the 51-year-old man who was ejected from the motorcycle.

The crash happened about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in front of the NuCar Chevrolet car dealership at 174 N. DuPont Highway.

Joseph Stabley, of New Castle, was riding a 2003 Boss Hoss motorcycle in the left northbound lane when it struck the side of a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze sedan that had pulled out of the dealership and crossed all four lanes into his path, police said.

Stabley was ejected from the bike and landed in the median. He was treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.

He was charged with reckless driving, drag racing and failure to have a helmet in his possession, police said.

The driver of the car, Myong S. Yoo, 66, of New Castle, and a 2-year-old girl in the Cruze were not injured. Police cited Yoo for failure to remain stopped.

The driver of the truck, whose identity was not known, avoided a collision with the Cruze and continued north on U.S. 13, police said.

The northbound lanes of U.S. 13 (North DuPont Highway) were closed about a half hour as police investigated.
