PIKE CREEK, DELAWARE (12/25/2015) Two people fled after a car crashed into a condominium building in Pike Creek early today, New Castle County police said.

The accident happened about 1:50 a.m. in the 3200 block of Falcon Lane.

“A witness reported seeing a car traveling at a high rate of speed in the area before skidding on wet pavement and then striking the building,” Cpl. Tracey Duffy said.

The witness reported two men exited through the passenger door and fled into a wooded area.

The 2015 Nissan Altima is owned by a rental agency, Duffy said, and was registered to Patrick Sweeney, 22, of the 2100 block of Peachtree Drive. Officers were unable to locate Sweeney at his home.

A county building inspector declared the condo unsafe, Duffy said, but the building structure was not compromised. The car was later removed.

Duffy asked anyone with information to call 302-573-2800.
