DELAWARE (10/4/2015) The Delaware Department of Transportation released this update on flooded roads in the wake of a nor’easter that brought high winds and tides to the state.
Route 1 between Dewey Beach and Bethany Beach, including the Cullen Bridge over Indian River Inlet, which was partially reopened earlier in the day, was closed again in both directions in mid-afternoon.
DelDOT crews will continue to monitor road conditions and will open or close roads as the situations dictate, said spokesman Jim Westhoff.
The storm’s strong winds from the northeast are holding water in the inland bays, causing extremely high tides, throughout the state, he said. Particularly impacted are the communities in Sussex County that are on the shores of Indian River Bay and Rehoboth Bay.
