WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (8/11/2018) A 32-year-old Newark man died after his motorcycle crashed on an elevated Interstate 95 ramp and he fell 35 feet to the ground, Delaware State Police said.

The crash happened about 9:55 p.m. Friday in the area of West Second Street.

Police said Eric K. Williams was riding in a group of three motorcycles on the ramp from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to continue north on I-95.

“As the Kawasaki approached a curved portion of the ramp, it struck a piece of metal debris in the roadway, which caused Williams to lose control of the steering. The Kawasaki then struck a concrete barrier which caused Williams to be ejected from the motorcycle and thrown over the concrete barrier, falling approximately 35 feet to the ground below,” Master Cpl. Michael Austin said.

He said Williams was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are still investigating and asked anyone with information to call Sgt. D. Alexander at 302-365-8484.
