Police identify 33-year-old man killed in Silverside Road crash

BRANDYWINE HUNDRED, DELAWARE (3/9/2018) One driver was killed and two other people were critically injured in a crash on Silverside Road early today, according to Delaware State Police.

The crash happened about 1 a.m. between Veale and Grinnell roads.

Police said a 2007 Honda Civic, driven by a 33-year-old Wilmington man later identified as Christopher Kufta, was eastbound at high speed when the car hit ice and spun into the westbound lane and into the path of a 2011 Hyundai Sonata.

The Hyundai struck the passenger side of the Honda, forcing it to overturn onto its roof, police said.

The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

The driver of the Hyundai, also a 33-year-old Wilmington man, and a passenger were both admitted to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in critical condition. Police have not released their names.
