All safe after tour bus catches fire on I-495

CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (2/26/2018) All 35 people aboard a tour bus that caught fire along Interstate 495 in Claymont were able to escape without injury.

The incident happened about 3:40 p.m. Sunday at the merge in Claymont with Interstate 95.

The passengers were shuttled to the Pennsylvania Welcome Center rest area to await a replacement bus, according to Delaware State Police Master Cpl. Michael Austin.

All lanes of I-495 northbound, which were closed due to a tour bus fire have been re-opened.

Northbound I-495 traffic was diverted off the highway at Philadelphia Pike until the fire was extinguished and the bus removed.
