CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (2/4/2018) A 75-year-old man died after his pickup truck crashed into a utility pole in Claymont on Saturday, the Delaware State Police said.
The crash was reported at 2:23 p.m. in the 600 block of Harvey Road.
Police said the man was driving a 1999 Dodge Dakota westbound and may have suffered a medical event that caused him to lose control of the vehicle. After striking the pole, snapping it in two, the truck continued into a fence and yard.
The man, whose name has not been released by police, was treated at the scene, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he was pronounced dead.
No one else was in the truck and no other vehicles were involved.
Harvey Road was closed in the area about three hours as crews repaired the utility pole.
