NEWARK, DELAWARE (10/26/2017) A 51-year-old Port Deposit, Maryland, man killed in a head-on crash near Newark has been identified, the Delaware State Police said. Three other people were injured.
The crash happened about 7:39 a.m. Tuesday on Otts Chapel Road above Interstate 95.
Police said a 2008 Toyota Camry driven by a 93-year-old Newark man was northbound on Otts Chapel Road approaching the overpass and drifted off the right side of the road, striking a guardrail, then veered into the southbound lanes. The Camry collided head-on with a southbound 1999 Honda Civic.
Thomas Breslin, a passenger in the front seat of the Honda, was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton, where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the Honda, a 23-year-old Port Deposit man, also was taken to the hospital for injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
A 28-year-old Port Deposit man in the rear seat of the Honda also was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.
The driver of the Toyota also was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
Otts Chapel Road was closed in the area about three hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
