Dover motorcycle officer injured in crash

DOVER, DELAWARE (8/17/2016) A Dover police motorcycle officer was injured Tuesday in a crash with a car, authorities said.

The collision happened shortly before 3 p.m. at the West Water and South New streets.

The motorcycle was eastbound on West Water when a northbound Acura, stopped at a stop sign on South New, pulled out in front of the bike, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

The injured officer, whose name was not released, was taken to a nearby medical facility and was expected to be released. Hoffman said his injuries were minor.

The officer is an eight-year veteran of the force.

There was no word on any charges for the driver, who also was not identified.
