UPDATED STORY: Police say 2 Dover-area deaths are murder-suicide

DOVER, DELAWARE (7/18/2016) The death of a 25-year-old woman near Dover is being investigated by Delaware State Police homicide detectives. Her body was found this morning about seven hours after her husband was killed nearby when he was struck by a vehicle on U.S. 13, authorities said.

Troopers found the woman with obvious injuries to her upper torso about 9:15 a.m. in the rear bedroom of a residence at the Alder Park Apartments, 51 Webbs Lane, state and Dover police said.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Kent County paramedics.

An autopsy was planned to determine how she died.

Dover police reported this evening that the woman’s body was found hours after her husband was struck and killed by a vehicle a short distance away, at Webbs Lane and U.S. 13 (DuPont Highway).

He walked into the path of the vehicle on U.S. 13 about 1:55 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene, Dover Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

A vehicle found with the engine running at the parking lot of the Wendy’s Restaurant at the intersection was registered to the pedestrian killed, Hoffman said.

About 9:15 a.m. Dover officers went to his apartment to notify his wife of his death and her body was then discovered. Police said a male occupant, who rented a room, was unaware of her death before officers arrived.

Detectives are still trying to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. The names of the couple are being withheld by police pending notification of next of kin.

Police asked anyone with information to call Detective Mark Csapo at 302-741-2821.
