CLAYMONT, DELAWARE (6/26/2016) A fire that heavily damaged a house in Claymont and displaced six people on Saturday was accidental, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 12:30 a.m. in the first block of Second Ave. in the Overlook Colony community.
The blaze was caused by an electrical malfunction, said Michael G. Chionchio, assistant state fire marshal.
Smoke alarms alerted the residents and no injuries were reported.
Damage was estimated at $30,000.
The American Red Cross is assisting the three adults and three children displaced by the fire.
