Wilmington police release details in shooting of 4 youths

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (6/15/2016) City police say they have no suspect information in the shooting of four youths Tuesday night and are asking for tips from the public. One of the victims is in critical condition.

An officer on patrol about 9:15 p.m. in the area of South Van Buren and Elm streets heard gunshots and called for additional police.

The officer then found a 16-year-old boy down at the intersection with gunshot wounds to his legs and right arm. Officers provided first aid until New Castle County paramedics arrived and he was taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in stable condition.

Police began receiving calls about additional victims, and found a 15-year-old boy at Elm and South Harrison streets with gunshot wounds to his hand, abdominal area and left leg. He was treated by paramedics and taken to Christiana Hospital for surgery and police said he was in critical condition.

Two other victims, a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy, were found in a home in the 200 block of S. Van Buren St. The girl was wounded in her left thigh and the boy had wounds to his right hip and feet. Both were treated by paramedics and taken by ambulance to Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children in Rockland in stable condition.

A 37-year-old man initially reported to have suffered a gunshot graze wound was examined at the scene but no injuries were found.
