2 teens seriously injured in Route 1 rollover crash

TOWNSEND, DELAWARE (12/25/2015) Two teenagers were injured when a vehicle rolled over and ended up on its roof along Route 1 east of Townsend early today, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash happened shortly before 2 a.m. in the southbound lanes at the Pine Tree Road overpass.

A 17-year-old boy was treated for possible head and extremity injuries. An 18-year-old man who was a passenger was treated for scrapes and possible internal injuries, said Sgt. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.

Both were taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in serious but stable condition, she said.

The crash is under investigation by Delaware State Police.
