WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (12/4/2015) A man captured by a Wilmington police detective following a PNC Bank robbery on Thursday has been linked to five other heists in the city, authorities said.
The latest robbery happened about 12:05 p.m. at 1009 N. Union St.
Police said Detective Charles Puit was inside the bank when he recognized a man who entered was a suspect in several recent bank robberies in the city.
Puit pursued the man on foot as he left the bank with proceeds, chasing him south on Union, east on West 10th Street and south on North Lincoln Street, where he entered a car and attempted to flee.
Police said the man, identified as Jerome Tilghman, 33, of Wilmington, placed the vehicle in drive while struggling with Puit and crashed into a parked pickup truck.
Tilghman was then taken into custody.
Police said numerous charges are pending in the PNC Bank robbery as well as five other recent bank robberies in the city.
Anyone with information is asked to contact FBI Special Agent Scott Duffey at 302-594-4319 or Detective Don Palmatary at 302-576-3654.
