GEORGETOWN, DELAWARE (12/3/2015) Police in Georgetown are warning the public about a texting scam.
The text advises there is a $25 service charge for it and has a phone number listed to call if there are questions, Lt. Lawrence A. Grose said.
“The public is advised at this time not to call the phone number and the text is a hoax,” Grose said.
He said while Georgetown police have not had any cases reported, the scam has happened in surrounding communities.
“We would like to warn the public to keep any eye out for odd text messages,” Grose said.
