MILLSBORO, DELAWARE (11/30/2015) A 32-year-old woman is facing charges after she fled from a trooper trying to stop her car, went through a stop sign and collided with another vehicle, Delaware State Police said. The woman and the other driver were injured in the crash east of Millsboro.

The pursuit begain about 3 p.m. Sunday after a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera failed to stop at a stop sign at the Route 24 and Layton Davis Road intersection, with the car fleeing recklessly at high speed on Streets, Cordrey, Maryland Camp, Townsend and Mount Joy roads onto Lawson Road, police said.

At the Hollyville Road intersection, the driver, Keiyanda M. Hopkins, 32 of Millsboro, failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with a 2012 Mazda MZ3 operated by Matthew D. Revel, 26, of Millsboro, police said.

Hopkins was taken to Beebe Healthcare’s hospital in Lewes, then transferred to Christiana Hospital in Stanton with injuries police said were not life-threatening.

Revel was treated at Beebe and released.

Troopers obtained warrants charging Hopkins  with disregarding a police officer signal, second-degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence of drugs, three counts of resisting arrest, driving while suspended/revoked, failure to remain stopped, two counts of failure to remain in travel lane, failure to stop at a stop sign and driving at unsafe speeds. She will be formally charged when she is released from the hospital.
