MILFORD, DELAWARE (11/30/2015) One of two suspects in the assault and attempted robbery of a 58-year-old man in his home has been arrested, Milford police said today.

The incident happened about 9:45 p.m. Sunday in the 800 block of S. Walnut St.

Robert D. Wilhelm Jr., 30, of Milford, was arrested after he was tracked by a K-9 and other officers to the Mispillion Apartments shortly after the incident.

Wilhelm and an unknown male went to the victim’s home and demanded money, throwing him to the floor and kicking him, Detective Dwight Young said.

The victim refused to turn over money and fought back. Young said Wilhelm brandished a large knife and stabbed the man in the torso, neck and face. The intruders then fled on foot.

The victim was taken first to Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in stable condition. Young said his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Wilhelm was charged with first-degree attempted robbery, first-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited and second-degree conspiracy.

He was being held at Sussex Correctional Institution near Georgetown in lieu of $154,000 secured bond.
