NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (11/21/2015) A 13-year-old boy was arrested after robbing a customer outside the Wawa store at Beaver Brook Plaza along U.S. 13, the Delaware State Police reported this evening.

The robbery happened about 9:45 p.m. Friday.

The victim, a 56-year-old man, was approached in the rear parking lot of the store by a boy with a gun, police said.

He demanded cash from the customer, who complied. The robber then fled toward a nearby apartment complex.

A state police helicopter spotted the suspect walking through the back of the shopping center and onto Saienni Boulevard and to a bus stop.

A state trooper and New Castle County officer saw the boy, who police said reached into his waistband and attempted to flee. He was subdued by a stun gun used by the county officer.

Police said the officers found a black BB gun in the waistband of the boy’s pants.

He was charged with first-degree robbery and released to the custody of a parent.
