Dover man arrested on gun, drug charges

DOVER, DELAWARE (11/17/2015) A 20-year-old Dover man was arrested on drug and gun charges after a traffic stop at White Oak Road and Frear Drive, city police said today.

The arrest of Dahppy Brewah, of the 800 block of Carvel Drive, came about 10:05 a.m. Monday.

Officers stopped the vehicle he was driving after they determined he had a revoked license, Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

The officers noticed a smell of burnt marijuana from the vehicle and a search found a loaded .40 caliber handgun and 20 bags of heroin weighing .3 grams, Hoffman said.

Dover and probation officers searched his home and found a box of .32 caliber ammunition, Hoffman said.

He said Brewah is prohibited from having a gun or ammunition due to a previous criminal conviction.

Brewah was being held at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna in lieu of $55,000 secured bond on these charges:

• Two counts of Possession of Firearm/Ammunition by Person Prohbited

• Carrying Concealed Deadly Weapon

• Possession With Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance (heroin)

• Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony

• Driving While Revoked
