Wilmington police capture robbery suspect

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (10/19/2015) City police captured a suspect in the armed robbery of a gas station shortly after the crime happened, authorities announced this morning.

The robbery happened about 7:10 p.m. Saturday at the Liberty Gulf Service Station, 1001 W. Fourth St.

A man with a handgun demanded money and the clerk complied. The robber then fled on foot.

Officers saw a man matching the description attempting to hide in rear yards on Carpenter Street, police said.

Police said Isiah Worthy, 19, attempted to flee but was captured without incident.

The proceeds from the robbery and a 9 mm High-Point C-9 handgun were recovered, police said.

Worthy was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during commissiion of a felony, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number, wearing a disguise during commission of a felony, criminal impesonation, resisting arrest and violation of probation.

He was being held at Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $112,100 secured bail.
