WILMINGTON, DELAWARE (10/14/2015) One man was killed and three others wounded in shootings about 20 minutes apart at two locations in Wilmington late this afternoon, but police aren’t sure if they are related.
The homicide happened just after 4 p.m. when shots were reported at Fourth and Monroe streets. A 53-year-old man was located in the 300 block of N. Monroe St. with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.
He was treated at the scene by New Castle County paramedics and taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released by police.
At 4:22 p.m., dispatchers were again notified of shots being fired at Fourth and Monroe, and several callers also reported shots fired at Third and North Lincoln streets, where police found a 61-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his upper leg. He was treated by county paramedics and taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition.
A 24-year-old man wounded in the upper leg atĀ Third and Lincoln arrived at St. Frances Hospital by private vehicle, police said. He was in good condition.
A few minutes later, another 24-year-old man arrived at Christiana Hospital’s emergency room with a gunshot wound in theĀ upper leg. Police said he also was wounded at Third and Lincoln and he was in stable condition.
Investigators cordoned off Third Street in the area of Scott and Lincoln streets.
