Clerk chases armed robber out of store

ELLENDALE, DELAWARE (10/6/2015) A robbery attempt went awry when the clerk questioned a gunman’s demand for money from the cash register and chased him out of the store, Delaware State Police said Monday.

The incident happened about 9:45 p.m. Sunday at the Country Corners Market and Exxon gas station at 18005 Beach Highway – at the intersection of U.S. 113 and Route 16 – near Ellendale.

The robber, described as a white male, 5-feet-6 to 5-feet-9 and about 130-170 pounds, was wearing a black T-shirt with a long-sleeve white shirt underneath and a black mask on his face. He had a handgun.

The 18-year-old man who chased him was not injured. The robber was last seen running east on Beach Highway.

Police asked anyone with information to call 302-856-5850.

Police said they don’t recommend anyone resist a robbery attempt.
