NEW CASTLE, DELAWARE (9/29/2015) A 40-year-old woman was seriously injured when her SUV was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer near New Castle, authorities said.
The accident happened abou5t 1:30 p.m. Monday on North DuPont Highway (U.S. 13) at westbound Interstate 295, said Cpl. Abigail E. Haas of New Castle County paramedics.
The driver was trapped in her SUV when paramedics arrived, with firefighters using the “Jaws of Life” to extricate her.
The woman was treated at the scene for possible head and internal injuries, then taken by ambulance to Christiana Hospital in Stanton.
The crash is under investigation by Delaware State Police.
