Fire destroys docked boat at Mariner’s Cove

LONG NECK, DELAWARE (9/26/2015) Fire destroyed a boat docked at the Mariner’s Cove development off Long Neck Road early today , according to the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company.

The fire at 35552 Joann Drive was reported at 12:47 a.m., with the Carolina Skiff vessel engulfed in flames and threatening a nearby residential structure due to high winds.

Fire Chief Mario Street directed operations, with the boat moved away from the dock and home and extinguished.

The boat was a total loss. No injuries were reported.

Delaware State Fire Police and Sussex County paramedics also responded. No injuries were reported.
