2 arrested on drug charges at Blackbird State Forest

TOWNSEND, DELAWARE (9/1/2015) Two people were arrested on drug charges at Blackbird State Forest south of Townsend, state Fish & Wildlife police reported Monday.

Alan Cave, 53, of Hartly, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, resisting arrest and hindering prosecution. He was being held at Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington in default of $2,500 secured bond and $45 cash bond.

Ashley N. Hurd, 26, of Dover, was charged with possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on $2,000 unsecured bond, pending an appearance in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas.

Both were arrested on Sunday.

“Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police officers routinely patrol and enforce state laws and regulations on state forest properties, as well as Fish & Wildlife’s state wildlife areas. Throughout the hunting seasons, you will see an increased presence of our officers within these areas,” said Capt. Drew Aydelotte of Fish & Wildlife Natural Resources Police.
