SUV overturns on I-495; driver injured, charged with DUI

DSP logoMINQUADALE, DELAWARE (5/2/2015) A 29-year-old driver was injured when an SUV went into a ditch and overturned on Interstate 495 this afternoon, Delaware State Police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

The accident was reported at 12:38 p.m. in the northbound lanes south of U.S. 13 (DuPont Highway).

The driver, Sargbah Roberts, of Wilmington, was seen making several lane changes at unsafe speed and lost control of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.

Roberts was taken to Christiana Hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.

Troopers also cited Roberts for unsafe lane change, unsafe speed, no seat belt and driving while suspended.

Northbound I-495 lanes were closed about two hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
