NEWARK, DELAWARE (4/27/2015) Three brothers have been charged in connection with an assault earlier this month at Kildare’s Pub in Newark, city police said today.
A break in the case came after a surveillance image was released and police received a tip through Facebook, Lt. Bill Hargrove said.
The assault happened about 12:40 a.m. on April 4 in the pub at 45 E. Main St.
The victim was punched in the face and knocked unconscious by a man later identified as Jordan Powell, 21, of Salisbury, Maryland, said Hargrove.
The surveillance video also showed the victim first being thrown to the ground by an off-duty Kildare’s employee identified as Johnathon Brown, 24, of Bear, said Hargove.
He said police also questioned Brown’s twin brother, Jaxon Brown, 24, of Bear, who was working at the club as a bouncer the night of the assault.
Hargove said both Browns denied knowing Powell, but it was later determined that all three are brothers.
Powell was charged with assault and conspiracy on April 12 and released on unsecured bond.
Both Browns were charged on April 23 with hindering prosecution and released on unsecured bond, Hargroves said.
Hargroves said a still image from the surveillance video was distributed by police on April 10 and the tip on Powell’s name came in within an hour.
