MILFORD, DELAWARE (4/10/2015) Construction of a new Route 1 interchange north of Milford will cause southbound lane closures next week.
The interchange at Thompsonville Road will eliminate a traffic light that has long been a bottleneck for summer beach travelers.
From Wednesday, April 15, through Saturday, April 18, work by contractor Mumford & Miller Concrete will cause intermittent lane and shoulder closures between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., according to the Delaware Department of Transportation, between Cicada Lane and the southern intersection with Tub Mill Pond Road.
The new interchange will carry Thompsonville Road over Route 1 as well as extending Thompsonville westward to the intersection of Tub Mill Pond and Church Hill roads. Median crossovers in the area on Route 1 also will be eliminated.
