Rehoboth police: Bad check bought $19,800 bracelet

REHOBOTH BEACH, DELAWARE (2/27/2015) City police are looking for a man they say wrote a bad check for a $19,800 purchase at Khalsa Jewelers.

Surveillance images were released showing the suspect Feb. 14 at the store in the 100 block of Rehoboth Avenue.

The man wrote the check to purchase a 14 carat gold and diamond bracelet, police said, and it was later discovered the check was written on a closed account and the phone number on the check was disconnected.

Police said the man is white, in his 50s and with dark hair. He was wearing a dark business suit, glasses and a blue buttoned-down shirt.

While at the jewelry store, the man made statements about purchasing local real estate and opening a business.

Police said he may be from the Washington, D.C., area
