BEAR, DELAWARE (2/23/2015) A clerk’s scream at the Acme in Bear ended a robbery attempt, state police say.
The incident happened about 6:10 a.m. Friday at the store in the Fox Run Shopping Center at U.S. 40 and Route 72.
The robber approached the customer service counter, asking to make a purchase, police said. When the clerk, a 54-year-old woman, went behind the counter, the man followed.
He then demanded she open the cash register, but fled the store empty-handed when the clerk screamed, Master Cpl. Jeffrey Hale said,
The woman was not hurt.
Hale said the robber was described as black, 6 feet tall and with thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and had a dark scarf covering his face.
