HARRINGTON, DELAWARE (1/27/2015) A DelDOT driver was taken to a hospital after his plow truck overturned on Route 14 (Vernon Road) west of Harrington this morning, authorities said.
State police said the accident happened about 6:35 a.m. just east of Hemping Road.
The driver, a 41-year-old man from the Camden-Wyoming area, was eastbound when for unknown reasons he drove off the south side of the road and made a sharp turn to the right as he attempted to re-enter the road, but the truck rolled onto its right side, Master Cpl. Gary Fournier said.
The driver, whose name wasn’t released, was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent Geneal Hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening.
Troopers cited him for inattentive driving.
The road was closed about two hours as hazmat crews cleaned up about 20 gallons of diesel fuel that spilled.
