DOVER, DELAWARE (1/12/2015) A 35-year-old man was charged with a third-offense felony DUI after causing a three-car accident that sent one driver to a hospital, Dover police said today.

The accident happened shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday at the Walker and Saulsbury roads intersection.

Antoine Collier of Dover was driving a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer westbound at high speed approaching Saulsbury Road, police said, when he struck the rear of a 2013 Nissan Altima that was stopped behind a 2002 Jeep Cherokee.

The impact forced the Nissan into the Jeep, police said.

The driver of the Nissan suffered back and abdominal injuries and was taken by ambulance to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover, Cpl. Mark Hoffman said.

“Collier showed signs of heavy intoxication,” said Cpl. Mark Hoffman, department spokesman.

In addition to the DUI charge, Hoffman said, Collier was arrested for vehicular assault and driving with a revoked license.

He was released on $1,900 secured bond.

Hoffman said Collier had previous DUI convictions in 2001 and 2013.
