Crash topples poles on Concord Pike

TALLEYVILLE, DELAWARE (12/20/2014) A Pennsylvania man was ticketed by state police after a crash that brought down four electric poles on Concord Pike (U.S. 202) and kept the highway closed for most of the day until repairs were completed.

The crash happened about 12:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes north of Silverside Road.

In the initial crash, a 1997 Toyota Camry driven by Matthew G. Pierce, of Coopersburg, struck a pole in the median, between Saladworks and Ashley Furniture, police said. The pole split and caused three others to break on both northbound and southbound lanes of Concord Pike.

Two other northbound vehicles behind the Toyota then struck low-hanging wires.

Police said no injuries were reported.

Troopers cited Pierce with failing to remain within a single lane and no proof of insurance.
