21-year-old Dover man killed in crash

DOVER, DELAWARE (12/14/2014) A 21-year-old man was killed when his car crossed the double yellow line and collided with an oncoming vehicle west of Dover early today, state police said.

The accident happened about 3 a.m. as Jordan W. Kershaw, of Dover, was driving a 1990 Mazda Miata sports car west on Forest Avenue (Route 8) just east of Cahoon Branch Road.

Kershaw’s sports car crossed into the eastbound lane and his front left bumper struck the front left bumper of an eastbound 2007 Mercury Montego.

Kershaw, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was taken to Kent General Hospital in Dover, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Mercury, Sonja R. Roy, 75, of Hartly, was not injured. Police said she was wearing a seat belt.

Police are still investigating the crash.

Forest Avenue was closed more than 3 hours as police investigated and the wreckage was cleared.
